LAF Fundraiser Bunco Party, November 2017
AAUW Santa Maria Holiday Party, December 2017

AAUW Members know the value of Education.  We also know the value of Play.  When you are able combine a goal, a purpose, and share it in an atmosphere of play, seeds are planted, and plans begin.  With this in mind, we spent November and December sharing social events with an underlying support of Fundraising and Spirit Connections.

In November we hosted a Legal Advocacy Fundraiser Bunco Party at the Merrill Gardens Activity Theater Room.  Over 40 people, including a couple of husbands, participated in this fun afternoon.  Giving people a chance to laugh and play brings them together for connection and communication … and there was plenty of all for everyone.

The Legal Advocacy Fund supports the protection of the legal rights of those who are facing discrimination.  LAF Plaintiffs supports workforce sex discrimination cases.  Campus Outreach Projects help protect college students from discrimination and assault through campus grants and education programs.  Educational Programs supports programs about legal rights.

In December we gathered at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Orcutt, to enjoy snacks and drinks provided by the Board and be entertained by the Orcutt Academy Singers.  We even enjoyed a Holiday Sing-a-Long.
