AAUW Tree and Certificate

Martha’s theme this year is “Make a Green Statement Through Education.”  In keeping with her theme, and to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the AAUW Santa Maria Branch (1951-2011), we planted a SILK MIMOSA Tree in Preisker Park.  This was a dream of Martha’s since the Fall of 2011, and our tree is marked with a plaque indicating the commemoration.  Several of our members were in attendance for the planting, each one taking their turn on adding the dirt to plant the tree.  We were assisted by staff from the City of Santa Maria, so we know our tree was planted with finesse and loving care.  And now we will watch our tree grow!!

Following the tree planting the ladies gathered at Ambrosia for a delightful lunch.  Gee, maybe we should do this more often?
