The AAUW Santa Barbara County InterBranch, including Santa Barbara-Goleta, Santa Maria, and Lompoc Branches, joined the AAUW San Luis Obispo County InterBranch to bring these AAUW Fellows together to be honored at a wonderful luncheon in the Garden Room of the Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, CA. Over 125 women gathered to hear our AAUW CA President, Alicia Hetman, share what is happening in AAUW this Spring, updates about Convention and Legislation, and to hear Sharon Westafer, AAUW CA Director, AAUW Funds update us about the current distributions of Grants and Funds. We were then treated to 3 outstanding women, who shared their history and their plans as they use the Fellowship Grants they have received.
Farnaz Daneshpour, International Fellowship Recipient studying Agribusiness at Cal Poly, SLO. She plans to teach back home in Iran as there currently are no female teachers with agribusiness.
Lindsey Higgins, American Fellowship Recipient, assistant professor of agribusiness at Cal Poly, SLO. Project name: Consumer Behavior and Wine Marketing. How interesting that Farnaz the International Fellow is a student in one of Lindsey’s classes.
Allyson Tosher, Career Development Grant Recipient studying Nursing at CSU, Channel Islands. Looking to becoming a traveling nurse to help women and families.
Each of the ladies was given a year membership in AAUW.
